Belgian Ales
Belgium has long been considered a haven for beer lovers. In addition to being home to six of only seven Trappist Breweries (beers made by monks) in the world, Belgium has almost 150 breweries producing over 500 beers for a population of about 10 million (about half that of New York State). Some of these breweries have been making beer since the 1500's, and the varieties are vast and endless. The Libertine tries to carry as many as we can fit behind our tiny bar, and we usually offer two or three on draught, as well.

The Classics
We strive to make our cocktails in methods that highlight the professional expertise developed in the pre-prohibition 'Golden Age' of the American bar.
A time sensitive process well worth the results

Gin, Luxardo Maraschino, Chreme de Violette & fresh lemon
Hugo Ensslin's recipe from Hotel Wallick in New York City. Creme de Violette can be replaced with the more modern Creme Yvette for a sweeter finish.

Sidecar 9
Pierre Ferrand Cognac, Cointreau & fresh lemon
The original recipe dates back to 1922 from England & France, though the exact point of origin is under much debate.

Sazerac 8
Rye Whiskey, Absinthe, Peychaud's bitters & cubed sugar
America's oldest cocktail, it's inception (mid 1850's) predates the first printed version in 1908. It's slightly mixed origins involve apothecary: Antoine Amadie Peychaud and proprietors Aaron Bird & Thomas Handy.

Blood in Sand 10
Famous Grouse Blended Scotch Whisky, Carpano Antiqua formula Sweet Vermouth, Cherry Heering & fresh orange
This cocktail takes it's name from the 1922 Paramount Pictures feature film about bullfighting and romance. The earliest written record of this cocktail can be found in Harry Craddock's original edition of the Savoy Cocktail Book, published in 1930.

French 75 8
Gin, Champagne, fresh lemon & sugar
Popularized at The Stork Club at the end of World War I, and recorded in the Savoy Cocktail Book in 1930, the drink draws obvious comparisons between the French 75 Howitzer gun and this cocktail's hidden potency.

Negroni 8
Gin, Campari, Punt E Mes & Dolin Rouge
In the late 1910's, the Americano was changed at the request of Count Camillo Negroni, who wanted a stronger drink. He may or may not have actually existed, but one swap of flavors changed the drink radically, and the Negroni was born.

Corpse Reviver #2 10
Gin, Cointreau, Lillet Blanc, Absinthe & fresh lemon
The original corpse reviver called for Applejack and Vermouth. This classic debukes the notion that sequels always suck. This recipe first appeared in Henry Craddock's classic tome: The Savoy Cocktail Book.

The Last Word 10
Gin, Luxardo Maraschino, Green Chartreuse & fresh lime
A proper social club is not complete without stellar dining and is not complete without a stellar bar. As waws the case at the Detroit Athletic Club in the early 1920's, which housed a bar remarkable enough to produce this one-of-a-kind gem even in the midst of prohibition.

Queen's Park Swizzle 10
Rum, lime, sugar, mint, angostura bitters
A favorite of Trader Vic, the Queen's Park Swizzle is a rich and flavorful rum based tiki cocktail named for the oasis that was the Queen's Park Hotel, formerly located in Trinidad's Port of Spain.
